American junior college requirements are earned in Japan.
Everyone who so desires is given the opportunity to study at the main college or at other state and private universities in the U.S. as Juniors.
The Japan Campus has an English training course and an Academic Program. Once 61 units have been earned, the student will receive an Associate's Degree. This degree is recognized by the NCA and is earned while in Japan. The classes follow the curriculum of the main school and are carried out in English, so the students receive the same education as they would in the U.S. while in Japan. After graduating from the Japan Campus, those students who so desire transfer to the main school or another American university to begin their Junior year. If the student simply wishes to find employment, the Associate's Degree can be used for those purposes. A student may also choose to work briefly before continuing his or her studies.
The system allows each student to study according to his or her own plans.
Liberal Arts studies to discover the connection between learning and life.
In the Lakeland College Academic Program, student study a variety of fields going beyond the traditional boundaries of humanities and science. This is based on the liberal arts education policy at the heart of American university-level education.
When students graduate and enter society they will find that there are no boundaries between humanities and science as are found in some universities. Therefore, the Academic Program does not limit students to one field or the other but encourages them to study in a wide range of fields. Students will go beyond their chosen field of study and expand their horizons. That is what liberal arts is all about.
Department and major are decided after entrance
There is no need to decide a department or major when you first enter the college. At the Japan Campus, students can select a major while studying in the Academic Program. One can study a completely new field or an old one from a new perspective.
It is said that there are more than 600 majors at American universities, and the number increases as time goes by. While studying in the Academic Program, students will come in contact with a wide range of fields and talk with a number of professors to decide which field is best for themselves.
They will be able to study the field of their wish in one of the leading countries in the field.
