■ Matt was in LCJ！

アメリカイリノイ州のSouthern Illinois State Universityからの
留学生Matthew AndreeくんがLCJでの生活をレポートしてくれました！！！

♪♪♪♪♪♪♪♪♪♪♪♪♪♪♪♪♪♪♪♪♪♪♪♪♪♪♪

OK、LCJではすごく楽しめましたね。ここでは世界中から集まっているたくさんの
人々に出会うことができました。特にアジアや日本の様々な土地から来ている人々に
会えたのは楽しかったです。

LCJの人々は、私のように日本の文化や言語、人々に興味を持っている人と会うことを
とても楽しみにしてくれています。彼らのおかげで私は自分の新しい一面を見ることが
できました。特に印象的だったのは、人と対立することでなく協調性を持って接する
ことを学んだことです。たとえどんなことでも、まずは相手を尊重するということで
すね。日本の人々はとてもポジティブで、こういった日本独特の『元気スピリット』
や『山の手魂』(あれっ？発音違ったっけ？これは電車だよね、ははは)などを知る
ことができてとてもよかったです。とにかく人々は他人のことにも気を使って、
お互いを助け合うという風習があります。

う～んと、それから・・・友達と日光や鎌倉、箱根など日本のとても美しい場所にも
行きました。ちょっと郊外に出ればこういった伝統的な文化にも触れることができま
す。それから友達からの強い勧めで、今までにやったことのない新しいことにもチャレ
ンジしました。馬刺しやくじらの刺身にも挑戦しましたし、カラオケでの絶叫も経験し
ました。このように日本での最初の学期はかけがえのないものとなりました。本当に
LCJに来てよかったと思います。

Ok, LCJ was a lot of fun, I got to meet people from around the world
especially from different areas of Japan and Asia. The people at school
were really nice, they were happy to see someone interested in Japanese
language and culture and people. They helped me learn new ways of expressing
myself. People showed me a way of harmony, a way that doesn’t have to be
confrontational. Where people are respected no matter what.
The people in Japan have so much positive energy and I enjoyed the Genki
spirit or Yamanote Damashi (?eh I forgot pronunciation that’s a train line
right haha) of Japan. People in the community are willing to help each other,
and make sure that people wanting to be involved.

More? Hmmm ok, I got to see many cool places with my friends, like Nikko,
Kamakura and Hokone's beautiful nature, I enjoy traditional culture and it
is easy to find in rural areas. I enjoyed breaking through my comfort zones
as my friends encouraged me to try new things like eating raw horse and whale,
or singing loudly at Karaoke. My first semester in Japan can never be
replaced. It was great and I am very glad I came to Japan and went to LCJ.
